Fri May 5, The last few days have been fun.

Tue. we went in separate directions for a bit. I got a propane tank filled and stopped at Walmart. The wives went places and Deb saw the quilt shop where Roslyn works. We met up for lunch at a BBQ restaurant. There are so many of those around! Lunch completed we went back to the house to plan for Wed as we will be moving down to the condo.

Wed. is like moving day, as we will be spending the next week at a condo on the water. Packing takes place and then Bob and I go to his basketball practice while the wives drive down to Orange Beach. My brother is coaching a high school basketball team and now is running special training sessions with some of his players for next season. After the session we drove down and joined everyone at the condo.


My nephew, sister and BIL in the kitchen and the view from our balcony. Since it was already past 5 when Bob and I got there is was time for a restaurant choice and dinner. Doc's Seafood was a short distance away and in 2 cars we headed there. No one has a vehicle that holds all 6 so all events away from here will require 2 cars.

Thur. we start the day down by the pool and lazy river. My nephew is down at the boat so we go down to say hi.

He is checking things out as later this week we will take a spin on the water. Today is day 1 of the hot air balloon festival and with the possibility of weather impacting things later, we decide today is the best day to go.
My sister has also never seen Bob's new house so we depart to go tour that. The tour of the house completed we then head to Jim and Nick's BBQ, 'cause you can never try enough good restaurants. The balloon festival was almost across the street so after dinner that was where we headed.
We got there early and had a bit of a wait but there were plenty of vendors and live music. Things finally got started and there were many beautiful designs. Some balloons took up passengers and some stayed tethered on the ground.




A fun full first day had by all, we returned to the condo and enjoyed the balcony for a while before calling it a night. Hard to believe we are half way through this trip as time is flying by!

 Tue morning May 2. The last few days have been generally nice weather-wise and it has been fun to be with my brother. Saturday we went to a German Festival fund raiser. They had a good turn out in spite of the weather, which brought in a thunder storm. We got in line for the sausages and had about a 20 minute wait to get to the window. They were worth the wait. We went to the bake sale next, should have been first. The storm drove everyone inside and they all but bought out the bake sale. We did manage 4 cookies and some peanut clusters.  Thursday May 8, Monday the weatherman was less than friendly and decided to drizzle on us most of the day. The walkers got in their walk and we spent the day in the condo or on the balcony. Our nephew Brandon and his wife Joi came over and spent the afternoon with us. This is Joi and my sister Bunny. Brandon cooked for us and made Cajun shrimp etouffee, which was wonderful. Tue. was checkout day, so we all packed up and then met at Duck's Diner for a final breakfast before Bunny and Michael headed for Fl and we returned to Bob and Roz's house.  April 26. Having concluded the blog entry on Monday after our visit to Sedona we decided we needed to check the weather for the next part of the trip. Good thing, the original itinerary had us going I-40 to Tucumcari, but the weatherman had severe thunderstorms and possible hail predicted for that route. We changed to Las Cruces, NM and and had a beautiful sunny day off the interstate on two lane road from Holbrook to Deming. Very enjoyable ride and a pleasant night in Hacienda RV Resort. Excellent facilities with private showers and other amenities. Deb was slightly less pleased because of the proximity to I-10, which I found as white noise that helped me sleep. On the road at 7:30 we planned for Kerrville, Tx again due to weather considerations. We are behind a storm and want to stay behind it rather than drive into it but we expect scattered thunderstorms tonight, clearing we hope by morning.
